2000-2001 Girls Volleyball Team
The 2000-2001 Volleyball season should be a good one for Southampton. There are
seven Varsity players returning from last years team with a great deal of experience.
Seven players went to individual setter and hitter camps at UNC and this should greatly
improve their game. There are many talented players from last years J.V. team that should
be a great addition to all the talent that we already have. Our season opens on Nov. 30
and continues through February. Look soon for a new schedule and exciting interviews
with the returning and new players.
My highlighted players for the new season are:
Sarah Gregory - 56 - Senior-Setter/Outside Hitter
- 4 years of playing experience
- Front & Back Row Specialist
- Super overhand serve
- Excellent all-court player & great court awareness
- Greatly improved hitting skills
- Good team leader
- Several years of JOV experience
- Lives by motto Nothing hits the floor
Jessica Cobb - 55 - Senior-Middle Back/Outside Hitter
- 4 years of playing experience
- Excellent passer
- All-court player
- Good leaping ability and hustle
- Reads the court well
- Aspires to be a great blocker
- Several years of JOV experience
Casey Gray - 58 - Senior-Outside Hitter
- 4 years of playing experience
- Good overhand serve
- Several years of JOV experience
- Good blocker
Meredith Edwards - 59 - Senior-Middle Hitter
- 4 years of playing experience
- Several years of JOV experience
- Good overhand server
- Good blocker
- Has enormous potential in volleyball
Bethany Warren - 55 - Senior-Setter/Right back
- 4 years of playing experience
- Excellent overhand serve
- Very smart player
- Great court awareness & hustle
- Good touch on the ball
- Has a real team attitude
Amber Copeland - 56 - Junior-Outside Hitter/Right back
- 3 years of playing experience
- Several years of JOV experience
- Good overhand & underhand serve
- Good hitter & blocker
- Both quick and smart on court
- Great court awareness
- Has enormous potential in volleyball
Christen Cricket Presson - 54 - Senior-Setter/Outside Hitter
- Transfer student from Kansas
- Great touch on the ball
- Excellent court awareness
- Excellent overhand serve
- 6 years of playing experience
- Both quick and smart on court
- Adapts well to any offense
Summer Carr - 59 - Sophomore-Middle Hitter/Outside Hitter
- Moved from J.V. to Varsity in the middle of the season.
- Very aggressive net player.
- Good server.
- Should be valuable player this year.
- 2 years of playing experience.
