1999-2000 Girls Volleyball Team This year may prove to be very interesting. We have 6 players returning from last years team and 3 moving up from J.V. with lots of experience. It should be a year full of excitement and hustle. This team gets along well and all of them remember there is no “I” in team. They are all real hustlers and will fight to the end to put forth their best performance. My highlighted players for the new season are: Sarah Whitfield - 5’10” - Senior - Middle Hitter • 4 years of playing experience • Left handed • Excellent overhand serve • Great middle hitter & blocker • Can hit with left & right hand • Very smart player. Uses knowledge and experience in choosing shots. • Good team leader Sarah Gregory - 5’6” - Junior - Middle Back / Outside Hitter • 3 years of playing experience • Front & Back Row Specialist • Super overhand serve • Excellent all-court player & great court awareness • Greatly improved hitting skills • Good team leader • Several years of JOV experience • Lives by motto “Nothing hits the floor” Amy Davis - 5’6” - Senior - Setter • 4 years of playing experience • Excellent setter • Can run 6-2, 6-1, 5-1 offenses • Great touch on the ball • Excellent overhand serve Jessica Cobb - 5’5” - Junior - Middle Back / Outside Hitter • 3 years of playing experience • Excellent passer • All-court player • Good leaping ability and hustle • Reads the court well • Aspires to be a great blocker • Several years of JOV experience Ashley Driver - 5’5” - Junior - Setter/ Right Back • Good setter • Great hustling ability • All-court player & great court awareness • Moves quickly on court and reads court well • Several years of JOV experience Casey Gray - 5’8” - Junior - Outside Hitter • 3 years of playing experience • Good overhand serve • Several years of JOV experience • Good blocker Meredith Edwards - 5’9” - Junior - Middle Hitter • 3 years of playing experience • Several years of JOV experience • Good overhand server • Good blocker • Has enormous potential in volleyball Bethany Warren - 5’5” - Junior - Setter / Right back • 3 years of playing experience • Excellent overhand serve • Very smart player • Great court awareness & hustle • Good touch on the ball • Has a real team attitude Amber Copeland - 5’6” - Sophomore - Outside Hitter / Right back • 2 years of playing experience • Several years of JOV experience • Good overhand & underhand serve • Good hitter & blocker • Both quick and smart on court • Great court awareness • Has enormous potential in volleyball Christen “Cricket” Presson - 5’4” - Junior - Setter • Transfer student from Kansas • Great touch on the ball • Excellent court awareness • Excellent overhand serve • 5 years of playing experience • Both quick and smart on court • Adapts well to any offense Racheal Heikens - 5’6” - Junior - Outside Hitter • First year playing high school volleyball • Has great heart and desire to play • Quick learner • Makes good passes Heather Turner - 5’5” - Junior - Middle back • First year playing high school volleyball • Quick on court • Very enthusiastic & good team attitude • Quick learner
